Google Android-based Eee PC in the works
Asus is teaming up with Google, using their software for their eee pc. An eeepc is a sort of laptop that is cut down to just what is needed to surf the web when you are out, rather than taking a whole PC with you. These are termed netbooks instead of notebooks. They are more mobile than the standard notebook or laptop.
Android is the software from Google they intend to use. Android is currently used in mobile phones that connect to the web. The android software is an operating system. The combination could be very powerful in an eep pc net book. Other companies are already using Android for their handsets. This could take up a share of sales in place of Microsoft’s vista and other operating systems.
Netbooks are increasingly popular among those that are into cloud computing. They do not need the power of a full note book as they simply need the web access and emailing capabilities. Notebooks are also popular because they use less energy than a full notebook. They generally weight less and are cheaper as well. So for those that do little more than surf the web and email then the new netbooks are a greener alternative.
