The latest development in the smoking-hot Linux netbook market is the eee-Xubuntu, which is a customized version of Ubuntu, the world’s most popular Linux system, for the ASUS EEE PC (also known as the the triple-E-PC, EiEiEi-PC and iii-Pc – although the official name is Asus Eee Pc ).

Specifically, it uses a version of “Xubuntu”, which is Ubuntu with the Xfce desktop environment instead of the Gnome one. If you’ve never used Xfce, you’re missing out; it’s a smooth, user-friendly desktop with many similarities to Gnome and yet is many times faster than Gnome and has good, sensible defaults. Xfce is known for being a good choice for office desktops, because it’s a clean, efficient design that doesn’t get in your way.

The tweaks to help it run on the EEEPC include improved WiFi connectivity, a reduction in the number of disk-writes it makes (which spares wear and tear on solid-state drives) and they’ve also made it easier to install from USB instead of needing a CD-ROM, which is nice since Asus Eee Pc does not come with optiacal drive.

This is a short news: The rims Linux Hoppen Asus has now confirmed that the ASUS Eee PC 901 coming to Denmark in the 39th week It is 2 weeks after that Asus actually had promised it to wild delay is not involved.

With Eee PC 901 Asus will be on a good specifications, as many of its competitors in the Danish market has on their Netbook. The main change will most buyers have the machine now includes an Intel Atom CPU over-Celeron CPU, as Asus Eee PC 701 and Asus Eee PC 900 contains.

From my point of view it is far more important that the machine would come with 6 cell battery – small 3-cell batteries, with competitors running, is a load. The price is not mad: Around 3000, – according. Linux Hoppen.

This is the Asus Eee PC 901 back in the driver’s seat on the Danish NETBOOK-market, in my assessment! At least if we are to the shock-SSD technology rather ordinary hard drive.

Are you looking for one of the slightly larger Netbook / mini-notes – in other words. with 10-inch display, you can check out a notification, I just fell over. Here is Asus largest NETBOOK Asus Eee PC vs. 1000h. MSI Wind. The specifications are very similar, as are the price. Still, there is a difference between the two machines – which hiver a scant victory home to the MSI Wind in the following notifier.

Note: Denmark is currently the only Asus Eee PC 900 and Asus Eee PC 701SD, which is on the market – Asus Eee PC 1000h So parallel imported from England for example. I wonder about the 2 first just thrown them on the website and then leaves as if it withdraws liiige the next few days – so it happens to fit with the official release …? I heard quite rapidly from the middle Data on sales of Eee-PC, as they had already put online last week – ready for sale immediately and shipped the same day it was commissioned.

They confirmed only that they had godtnok Eee PC stocked, but shortly afterwards sent as an e-mail No. 2, who explained that the product can only be launched Monday (today), and therefore would be shipped today .. Hmm .. Not exactly the best that we believed that we would sit Eee machine in their hands throughout the weekend and so could not have it tomorrow. However, a well be that “they have come” to send the first Eee’er out before launch – it is not known.

MTP Data has chosen not to respond to the mail I sent – it can then call poor customer service, so I would not recommend buying from them.

Update on. 29 / 7: It appears that the MTP had responded to an incorrect email address, because they obviously have been manually by typing in the address. The answer was, moreover, that they had a few pieces in stock of the black Linux variant .. But that is about to be old news now.
