Asus drops Xandros Linux on the Eee PC

When Asus launched their Eee PC with Linux would take jublen no ed. This should be the catalyst that brought Linux to the people and, in turn, created a little competition in the market for OS’er. Other Netbook followed suit with plans for the Linux operating system, such as Acer Aspire One. However, the fact is that so far it has only been around. 30% of all NETBOOK’s, which has been sold with Linux, but the other 70% NETBOOK’s are sold with Windows XP. (There are also a few Netbook example from HP with Vista, but these are rare.)

The “low” sales figures have led Asus out now completely abandon the sell machines with Linux.
It is the logistics of the many different models that looked at the same time be found in OS-2 variants are the problem. Asus simply do not think it pays off.
My personal opinion is that it is a pity that Linux now cuttes entirely from Asus’ page. However, I can easily follow them – Asus has certainly been a damn good offer from Microsoft as soon as they began to see Netbook-Linux prevalence a threat. I can also easily follow the buyers – my next NETBOOK will probably also with Windows, simply because I have a lot småprogrammer that I can run only then, so everything just easier ..
The idea that Linux can take advantage of the neddroslede resources much better than Windows, I still really good, but with Asus out of the market, Acer is the main player as Linux-pusher at netbook’en, but their strategy is rotten: The Acer Aspire One ‘ s Netbook sold with Linux is neddroslede compared with XP versions, for example, with 512MB of RAM instead of 1GB, and then the whole scams disappeared ..
